In 2004, The Ackerberg Group began a development process that would eventually lead to the creation of Catalyst Community Partners: Ackerberg purchased the vacant property at 1915 West Broadway from Hennepin County. Within a fast 75-day period, the property was renovated and became home to Agape Child Development Center, a 7-day, 24-hour childcare program. In addition to being its sole tenant, Agape's parent company has an ownership interest in the property.

The 1915 West Broadway Building required extensive renovation before it could be occupied. Eclipse Architecture provided design services for the project and Welsh Construction served as general contractor. The $450,000 renovation included roof repairs, HVAC system tuneup, additional infant rooms, new carpet and fresh paint throughout. Waterproofing has recently been completed.

Agape Child Development Center is a 24-hour childcare program that creates a culturally sensitive environment, reflecting each child’s home culture. Located in North Minneapolis, Agape is an extension of Oasis of Love, Inc., a crisis intervention program that addresses family violence.

Agape’s mission is to build an intergenerational program involving toddlers, preschoolers, school age children and their parents. The focus is to build a bridge between the community and childcare providers by constructing solid programs, which will address the development needs of children.
